Our Custom Trailer Building Process

At Best Built Trailers, we design, engineer, manufacture, finish, and service every trailer under one roof. That means one team, one location, and one standard of quality from start to finish. Unlike mass-production facilities that outsource critical stages, we build everything from the ground up—ensuring unmatched consistency, durability, and long-term performance for our customers across Georgia, the CSRA, South Carolina, and surrounding Southeastern states.

Our proven process gives entrepreneurs, small-business owners, and mobile operators the reliability they need to run a business on wheels.

Step 1 — Consultation & Concepting

Every great build begins with a conversation.

Our team sits down with you to understand:

  • Your business or operational needs

  • Preferred trailer type (food trailer, mobile bar, dog wash trailer, tool trailer, refrigeration trailer, barbecue trailer, etc.)

  • Custom dimensions and workspace needs

  • Equipment layout and workflow

  • Power requirements

  • Ventilation, plumbing, and storage considerations

From here, we shape a plan that fits your goals, budget, and operational workflow.

Step 2 — Engineering & CAD Design

Once your concept is established, our engineering team moves into precise planning and digital modeling.

We design:

  • 2x6 structural tubing frames

  • Custom lengths and widths (up to 8.5’ max width)

  • Axle placement and load distribution

  • Generator and electrical system sizing

  • Ventilation, exhaust, and plumbing layouts

  • Solar-ready configurations for eco-friendly builds

Owning our engineering process ensures your trailer is structurally sound, safe, efficient, and tailored exactly to your operation.

Step 3 — Ground-Up Frame Construction

Your build starts with a foundation built to last.

Our frame features include:

  • 2x6 structural tubing for superior strength

  • Torsion axles for longevity, smoother towing, and lower maintenance

  • Heavy-duty couplers and bracing

  • Alloy chrome wheels for durability and style

  • Optional electric jack installations

  • Flip-out step options for easy entry

Because we fabricate your frame in-house, we control quality at every weld and connection point.

Step 4 — Wall Construction & Complete Insulation

Unlike some manufacturers who skip insulation or use subpar materials, every trailer we build includes insulated walls.

Benefits include:

  • Reduced heat transfer

  • Better performance in the Southern heat

  • Improved energy efficiency

  • More consistent temperatures for food-service environments

Insulation is a critical step for comfort, efficiency, and equipment longevity—and we treat it like a priority, not an add-on.

Step 5 — Electrical & Generator System Integration

Your business can’t run without safe, reliable power.

That’s why we custom-size all electrical systems based on your equipment specifications.

We handle:

  • Complete 12V and AC electrical systems

  • Generator sizing and installation

  • Custom generator covers built specifically for your trailer

  • Shore power hookups

  • Circuit protection

  • Testing and load verification

We can also integrate solar-ready systems for customers seeking green or hybrid power solutions.

Step 6 — Interior Buildout & Equipment Installation

This is where your trailer comes to life.

Our most common interior build include but are not limited to:

  • ETL, UL, and NFPA listed / certified range hoods

  • Side-opening concession windows for maximum customer serving space

  • Plumbing, sinks, gray-water systems

  • Counters, shelving, and storage

  • LP gas systems and regulators

  • Ventilation and exhaust

  • Interior lighting and wiring

  • Custom color schemes and exterior panels

  • Screen door options for airflow and comfort

Everything is installed according to code, industry standards, and customer needs.

Step 7 — Quality Assurance & Compliance Checks

Before delivery, we conduct comprehensive inspections including:

  • Electrical system testing

  • Propane and plumbing checks

  • Exhaust and ventilation verification

  • Weight and balance review

  • Structural and frame integrity inspection

  • Door, window, and fixture testing

Our QA team ensures your trailer is safe, compliant, and business-ready.

Step 8 — Delivery, Walkthrough & After-Sale Support

We don’t just hand you the keys—we walk you through your new trailer, showing you how everything works.

And unlike many manufacturers…

We also service what we build.

Customers choose us because:

  • You deal with the same team who built your trailer

  • Parts, repairs, and upgrades are available locally

  • We offer annual tune-ups, inspections, and maintenance

  • We support customers long after delivery

We stand behind every trailer we create.
